Man United faithfuls: Green & Gold revolution - Are you ready to put your money where your mouth is?

Question by FrançoisDerain!: Man United faithfuls: Green & Gold revolution - Are you ready to put your money where your mouth is? The fundamental objective is to secure meaningful permanent ownership of Manchester United FC for supporters. There have been moves by Manchester United's Supporters' Trust (http://www.joinmust.org/home.php) and influential club supporters to get a deal brokered by football financier Keith Harris into exploring the options for effecting change of ownership of the club (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/8488910.stm). Since the Glazers took ever, season ticket holders have dropped from 65000 to about 5800. United was worth £800M in 2005 and without debt but the owners have now lumped it with a debt of £712M despite increased turnover. Would you join in a move to raise money to buy the club back and make it a PLC with fans owning at least 50% of the club? How much would you invest? I believe that if we have 65000 people stepping up with an investment of £7500 each, that would be £487.5M, which would form about 65-60% of the value of the club. Personally, I would, it's a price worth paying for the future of the club that lies in my heart - in fact, I used to be a Man Utd PLC shareholder until the takeover forced all of us to sell our shares. Edit: ....the season ticket holder figure should be 58,000 not 5800! Best answer:

You have my EMOTIONAL support - I can't afford even $ 7500, not to talk of that amount in £s - not on what I earn. But I still love the club regardless. I'll probably make a small donation to the supporter's trust instead.
